When P.M. Rasheed founded Malabar Eye Hospital in 1999, there was no dedicated private eye care institution in Kozhikode. His vision was simple: bring world-class ophthalmic expertise to the people of North Kerala — without requiring them to travel to distant cities.
Twenty-five years on, that commitment remains unchanged. Today, the hospital serves over 200 patients daily, trains hundreds of optometrists annually, and stands as the anchor of a growing network — most recently through a landmark partnership with Maxivision Eye Hospitals, India's premier eye care chain.
Our team brings together decades of clinical experience across every subspecialty of ophthalmology.

LASIK suitability depends on your corneal thickness, refractive error, age, and overall eye health. Our consultants will conduct a comprehensive pre-LASIK evaluation to determine the best procedure for you — LASIK, SMILE, or another refractive option.
Phacoemulsification (modern cataract surgery) typically takes 15–20 minutes per eye under local anaesthesia. It is virtually painless. Most patients can return home the same day with a protective shield over the eye.
Yes. We are empanelled with major insurance providers and TPA networks. Please carry your insurance card and policy documents at the time of consultation. Call us in advance and we can confirm your provider's coverage.
We recommend a child's first eye examination by age 6 months, then again at 3 years, and before starting school. Children with a family history of squint, amblyopia, or high refractive error should be seen earlier. Our paediatric unit is experienced in examining even very young children.
Eranhipalam is our headquarters and primary surgical centre — it offers the full range of super-speciality services including complex retinal surgery and advanced diagnostics. Koyilandy is our secondary care branch offering consultations, routine eye care, and common procedures for patients in the Koyilandy area.
Bring any previous eye prescriptions, glasses, or contact lenses. If you wear contact lenses, remove soft lenses 3 days before a LASIK evaluation and rigid lenses 2 weeks before. Arrange for someone to drive you home if you expect pupil dilation drops.
Absolutely. All our consultants and support staff are fluent in Malayalam and are here to serve you in the language most comfortable to you.
